OT: How has Christmas changed?
This article on
Holiday traditions fading into obscurity got me thinking. It seems as though my mental definition of a Christmas tree is obsolete. It's been a while since I had one, but to me, a Christmas tree is shiny glass ornaments, tinsel and multi colored twinkle lights on a Douglas fir. We had some of the lead-based tinsel, but the plastic tinsel was preferred. As a kid I would stare at them for hours, mesmerized by the shifting colors that bounced off the ornaments and the tinsel. Such a great light show for a future hippie.
Tinsel - gone. Twinkle lights - gone. How has Christmas changed since you were a kid?
