Followed that auction too, but I'm not surprised this one went so high when a lot of French C&V stuff had been going up through the roof in price recently.
The price is pretty high considering that it's only a frameset.
I suspect it was more of an emotional based "grail bike" aquisition by the auction winner than speculation, and there's nothing basically wrong with that...as I suspect many of us had done that before too.
