He didn't start the problem, he isn't propagating it, he's just trying to make his way. Is it wrong? Sure. But it's wrong in the way that a poor guy stealing bread is wrong.
Building yourself into a worldwide phenomenon, branding yourself as a cancer-fighting hero and making millions and millions of dollars while doing your level best to not only dope better than everyone else but actively damaging those trying to make the sport cleaner, well that's something else. For me, and maybe others, it's not so much the doping that evokes the ire.
Of course these are extremes. Lots of grey between.
Take away the wins? Sure, why not? Who care who gets them? The message is, if you dope there are consequences. It doesn't matter who you are. This is the hard line we need to take to make the sport better. It's not fair, but who are we hurting? Lance gave away his right to consideration the moment he retained Dr. Ferrari's exclusive services. Anyways, I don't even think that's on the table. I really don't think the UCI cares anymore.
I agree completely with EVERYTHING youve sad, except for the last lines/paragraph. Someone still cares, hes still under a grand jury investigation, someone wants him busted. The UCI is a complete joke, they were all fine&in bed w/Lance when it was benefitting them. As soon as all the bs began coming out, they "all of a sudden", pull up the anchors on Armstrongs ship, and now seem to want nothing to do w/him? They didnt seem to mind getting those *ahem*"donations" from Lance though huh?
Canam, THATS why I compare Lance to MLB/Clemens so much. They did this stuff to make money&have success. Now, when it comes time for them to pay the price, they dont want to.
Thats been my stance since the beginning, hes guilty, he needs to pay the price, whatever that may be. Has nothng to do w/when he did it, and who else did it. He "frauded" sponsors/fans and so forth for his own personal gain/selfishness, imo, thats the worst part of the whole thing. THATS my biggest issues w/him. Hes duped MILLIONS into thinking he did all he did, while clean. But, he wasnt, hes trying everything he can though, in hopes his secrets dont leak out? Doesnt look good for him.
