No, she does not. Since she is a new rider, she worries that she will not get her foot out of a clip quick enough when in a panic situation. The MKS is a really grippy pedal and I am of the opinion that you really don't need retention with it. Of course, if you want to use your leg to lift the pedal on the upstroke that's another story.
