When I was younger, I wasn't ever an alcoholic, but I was definitely a binge drinker. Never drank at home alone, but when I went out, I would always pickle myself.

These days, with a wife, work, a child and a tight schedule, I drink maybe once every couple of months.

It's not that I dislike drinking, I just place a higher premium on my free time, and don't want to spend it inebriated.

Then there's the hangover... I hate hate hate (3 times for emphasis) the feeling of being even slightly incapacitated.

There's nothing worse than not being able to do something you want because you feel crappy, by your own fault.
I'm slowly starting to relate...also the less I drink the less I care to drink. It becomes bothersome when it upsets your stomach or just makes you drowsy because you aren't pounding them to get wasted. I used to drink like 4-5 post ride with friends...now I might finish 1...might. I prefer lots of water and a beer just before sleep to help calm my nerves
