countinue several miles on this road (there are some major downhills be careful!)until you come to a circle go half way around the circle and make sure to continue on w palisade ave until you make a left onto E tyron ave . take that until you come to the first intersection at Teaneck road where you will make a right onto teaneck road heading north for several miles until you will see W Madison Ave
I know this route too. I live further south around Nutley (formerly of Ocean Pkwy). My preference is, instead of riding W. Palisade all the way to Tyron/Teaneck Road, to make the first right after the circle onto Knickerbocker and take that north up to Madison. Knickerbocker is freshly paved, modest traffic, and nice and shady.

If you don't mind riding a bit out of the way, you can take Knickerbocker to Durie Avenue, make a left and ride along the Oradel Resevoir, which dumps you out at Oradel Ave. Longer but gorgeous.
