It's not a bad idea. It just requires a more knowledgeable and intensive approach to maintenance. As well as requiring more tools.

That said, unless you actually ride in the rain, loose ball headsets and bottom brackets generally don't need much servicing beyond checking every 4-5 months and replacing the grease every year or so.
