I used to do insurance property inspections and write technical reports. One of my supervisors x'ed out "chuck holes" and replaced it with "pot holes" in one of my reports so I looked up both in the dictionary. The "pot hole" definition was a little more specific because it made reference to the shape of the hole. Smart alec that I am, in my next report I included both in my description of the parking lot.
