My dad has a Norsea 27' sailboat. The original owners were a couple who sailed it around the world. He takes my 3 siblings and my stepmom on it for extended vacations in the Pacific Northwest. So all the people saying you need a big boat are full of it. The Norsea has a very deep keel and is quite stable. Yes - it is very cramped.
If you like being in a cabin that's about 12 feet long and an average of three feet wide, that's fine. Of course that's with maybe a propane stove, some water in a plastic container, and maybe a port-a-potty.
Sure there are a few crazy people that sail around the world in something that small but there also are lots of people that don't survive as well. A was in some eight foot waves last summer in a storm in a 42 foot boot and it wasn't fun. I also has in 14 foot waves a few years before in a 31 foot boot. I personally like lots of navigation and safety gear with electricity, running water, and enclosed heads.
