I'm just learning. My week of sailing next month is a keelboat course. Otherwise I've only sailed 420s (dinghys). I love it, though.

I've seen him carry a couple of mountain bikes on it - he just tied them up on deck. No big deal. The important thing is to not drop them in the water when transporting them via dinghy if you are moored offshore.

So the short answer is this - get a mountain bike and tie it up on deck.
I would indeed be willing to rough it, and it would be just me and the bike. The HR-25 might still be too small. It's based on the Shark, which has only a 6' beam. Anyway, I don't need to rush to buy anything. I've got a few years to play around on different boats before I commit.

If you like being in a cabin that's about 12 feet long and an average of three feet wide, that's fine. Of course that's with maybe a propane stove, some water in a plastic container, and maybe a port-a-potty.

Sure there are a few crazy people that sail around the world in something that small but there also are lots of people that don't survive as well. A was in some eight foot waves last summer in a storm in a 42 foot boot and it wasn't fun. I also has in 14 foot waves a few years before in a 31 foot boot. I personally like lots of navigation and safety gear with electricity, running water, and enclosed heads.
