A longshot, but are you sure there is nothing obstructing the seat tube (where the seat post goes in), like a plastic plug or anything?
On the handle post, make sure the lever is swung down before you put the post in the fully upright position, then try closing the lever (up and against handle post).
Pedals you should be pushing in, towards the bike, first, then in the same motion, pushing them down towards the floor.
