HELP! Dahon Seat post and headset problem :(

I just received my Speed Uno today from Amazon.

But my seat post wont go into the hole (won't go down) and end part is already silverish 'cos i tried to force it in, the clamp is loose but it doesnt help.

My head set clamp (sorry, am new, no idea what it's called) is too tight, i need a LOT of strength to push the clamp all the way up but when it is not folded it is really easy to push up.

[SUB]Cant seem to fold the pedals too, urkk. solved! yay thanks, chaadster![/SUB]

I cant find a number to call on the Dahon site either

A longshot, but are you sure there is nothing obstructing the seat tube (where the seat post goes in), like a plastic plug or anything?

On the handle post, make sure the lever is swung down before you put the post in the fully upright position, then try closing the lever (up and against handle post).

Pedals you should be pushing in, towards the bike, first, then in the same motion, pushing them down towards the floor.

Report back!

Have you seen this video from NYCEWheels on the Speed Uno? Maybe if you watch his fold technique, it can help you understand what is going wrong for you:

See: https://dahonbikes.com/index.php?id=184 You should consider taking it to one of them.

Depends on the shop, but I'd guess that, presuming your bike isn't broken or in need of repair, that they'll show you how to do it for free. On the other hand, if something really is wrong and needs fixed or replaced, it could cost $100 bucks; can't say accurately without knowing what's wrong.

You'll get a quote before you have to commit to anything, though.

I'll see if they would take my seat post for another seat post :/
I emailed Dahon and they said they would get back to me within a week.
Thank goodness I know Mandarin(Chinese), otherwise I would never get the message across to the customer service officer >_>

I'll still go to a bike shop this week, cant wait!

gonna be outta here in like an hour ...
gonna be back on tuesday .... you could email me some pics to fboat33@hotmail.com and as long as the telephone towers are somewhat working around the lake ....
OR make a trip all the way south to Carlyle Lake .... spend 20 bucks for a delicious meal free beer .... live music ... campround next door to the marina ... and I fix your bike ..:-)

ok tuesday ( feels like monday ..lol ) call me I am available ...lol
(that sounds wrong on so many different levels ..lol)

what I mean is that I am here.... :-) 618 393 2955

https://www.thorusa.com/recall click on that .,. Now dont worry your bike is NOT affected but it shouls you a drawing for the stem..
yours is a Radius .... see that plate which is held by two allen bolts... dont touch those .. those are fine ... out of the plate comes a silver grub screw 8 mm open end wrench .... that goes into a plastic block .... you will need to turn that one just a very tiny bit ... try to close it if it gets tougher than you need to turn the other way obviously .. make very small adjustments .... voila :-)

Look at he shim where your seatpost is reating in .... if it has burrs or looks strange ... email me your address and I will send you a new one .... the seatppost should go in and out easy .... ... put some grease ( NOT ON THE SEATPOST ) on the cam ( round looking part of the quick release, so it works smoothly ... do the same on the handlebar clamp .... you want those nice and tight, if they are lubed they will work easy and usually can be tightened a bit as well ...

thor

Flatcake, I am about 7mi away from Gurnee, if there are things you are still not sure of, please feel free to PM me. I can take a look and maybe help you out. I am not a Dahon rep, but I've been into the fold (owned two Dahons) for sometime now.
