Pretty much nailed it on the head. Can't stand suffering any more scorn than I already do from the bike snobs of the local parking lot pickup ride. Plus, at some point I'm going to upgrade to something newer than my 2001 frame. So, yes, I'd like to have found something that "looks" less dated than a 32 year old design.
What can I say? Sometimes aesthetics plays a role. I'm going to look at the Prologo mentioned above. But, worry not Banzai, if I can't find anything that compares, a turbo it will be.
