I read somewhere that lot of european ('club' level) races no longer offer cash prizes. They used to be rich events but now they often just offer local produce like a giant ham or cheese or whatever. Their reasoning is that guys were juicing up to take out the prizemoney and the quality of racing wasn't good because of the constant blocking.
