Hmmm my 2c .....

My langster was making horrible noises, I was thinking OK, time to go through and check all the things, the pedals, the bolts that hold that big gear, the bottom bracket.... but first I'm going to give that chain a nice "drink" of tri-flow.... I do that, put triflow on each link and give the chain a good rubbing down to get a lot of the black gunk off with a paper towel, then a nice test ride around here, really stomp on it.... silent.

I was using White Lightning, a wax lube, and just on a club ride on my gearie, 40-50 miles and the chain's all noisy, shifting not all that great, I went to tri-flow and now it's not a problem. I hate to say it but given a 30-odd mile club ride, 5 miles there and back to the start point, then other odd riding I have to do to get through my day, 50 miles is not that uncommon for me. And so far, in my experience, tri-flow beats wax lube.

so try that and see what noises still go on, and go from there.
