A smooth stoke is great. I had the opposite result with a 6' 200 or so pound strong son who had a very rough stroke. It was fun with that power but it was a handful even on a stiff newer CoMotion Speedster. I think a lot pf people like very stiff tandems because the team's stoke could use a little smoothing out.

+1. I can tell when my wife is out of phase, but the bike actually wiggles more when I'm solo. Her stroke definitely isn't all that smooth (love her anyway), but I would suspect her power is 20% that of my son's.
