Yes! The Big Apples have a great ride quality. Surprisingly low rolling resistance, with a big, fat, round profile that makes cornering a pure joy.

Here's my workhorse / 29er in its current commuter guise, sans fenders at the moment, shod with the 50mm Marathon Supremes. I've tilted the rear rack a bit forward - I have plenty of heel clearance,and it works great with my panniers (pulls the weight balance towards center):
