Myself and
Scozim met up at
RogerM's spacious home today at the invite of Roger's wife, Marie. In the past couple of weeks, Marie, Scott and myself have been in cahoots planning a get-together to celebrate that 50-year milestone in the proper way.
The original plan was to take in a short ride - with Roger's son Thomas - on the Centennial Trail to kick things off. Weather report was not favorable, so we scotched that idea. Scott and I showed up around 1100 and we bike-geeked for a couple hours until the rest of the guests filtered in as the day moved along. Before lunch, we got to take a look at Roger's collection:
Atrium bike-cave:
Super-rare (one of only five built) Joe McElroy tandem:
2003 Serotta:
Party decorations:
The we sat down to eat; Marie fixed some super-duper lumpia, a great salad and a giant bowl of mouth-watering pancit while one of her neighbors brought a huge platter of spicy shrimp. Lunch was fantastic! Then Roger opened up his gifts:
Framebuilding book from Scott:
Drillium gear levers from - guess who?
Chocolate-covered pretzels!
It's official:
The cake:
More to come...
