This is what I was thinking. They were just being friendly, albeit in a rather clumsy way.
I would have thanked then and just kept on moving on. When i started riding I had strangers offer me advice; some of it was good. some was OK and some was just worthless. I took the good and disregarded the rest. It made me a better rider.
