+1. unfortunately, for most people, doing what everyone else does is OK.

This is hard for most people as it requires the ability to make internal decisions in the presence of external contradictory environmental cues. A "mob mentality" usually prevails.

It should be noted that I think those are weak reasons for people to make poor decisions, but it hasn't stopped me from exploiting the weaknesses of others through those methods.
