I am also contemplating becoming unfaithful to my two steel bikes - and I know just what you're talking about. How could I even think of not riding my 30-year-old made-for-me frame? Rides like a dream, no shimmies, feels springy yet stable and just...right. For what?

Well, a new Ti would fit modern components, lots more gears, and would not have the doofus mechanics sayin' "hell, ya can't even get parts for that thing". I'm not an aggressive-compulsive collector so I don't have bins full of vintage bits to feed to my old steel. That's why I'm thinking about new and lighter...
But then, it took me two years to justify to myself spending $300 on my Atala Record in 1972.

Maybe I just feel bad about spending money on myself.
