George,
It was a rear tyre that went, sounded like a .22 shot when it blew out. I unloaded the weight on the rear wheel by shifting forward, applied both brakes slowly and got it stopped safely. I walked across the bridge I had gotten on and asked a nice lady if I could sit on her side yard while I put in a fresh tube. I booted the tyre's hole with a dollar bill, put my spare tube in and got the bead seated then inflated the tube with my CO2 inflator and rode slowly the 2 miles left to my house. If it had been a front tyre it would be a totally different story for me. Yeeeccccchhhh.
