Take a look at youtube to see if there is films you can use. Do not fear electricity, water and chemicals (unless you live in a flat). I did some serious rust remowal from the strukture of an old (7o`s) car trailer this summer. Just do some serious research and go for it.

I remember somebody selling "do it yourself" kits for home anodizing. Several colours in the kit I think.
