Bikes: A little of everything

Help identifying a Fox fork? (and yes, I've already talked to Fox :) )

I've been given a bike with a very old Fox fork on it, though I'm not sure what the fork is. The bike is some sort of second-or-third-hand hodgepodge of parts, I don't know the history. The serial number on the fork is damaged (or corroded, or something) just enough that I can't read it clearly; I've tried to relay it to Fox, but between the obvious age of the fork and the iffy number, they don't think they can identify it.

The stickers claim it's a TALAS RLC, but the adjustments certainly don't look like RLC + travel adjustment. The left knob has about a 1/8 turn in it, the right has many turns (I don't think I've gotten it to bottom or top out at all). I haven't taken the knobs off to see what's underneath. I don't think I've seen a Fox fork with two red knobs-I'm guessing the left side is bogus in some way. I don't see any access to a schraeder valve- I'm guessing this is a spring fork. check the pictures and let me know what you think. I can take more close-ups if needed. Thanks!
