Bikes: At last count... 31. 11-19-22.

Re-building my Vintage MTB. Step 1- Buying correct sealed Headset.

Ok. So, my old Rockhopper is getting a rebuild.

Have purchased about 1/2 of the 'newer' parts that will be going back on it.
-Had old Altus C10 group. And am doing a mix of XT and XTR as replacements.
- New BB, FD, RD, cables, etc.

Bike is stripped, and cleaning process begun.

I live in Phoenix during my off season (Jan-March), and this bike sees a lot of sandy trail riding.

Want to upgrade to a sealed cartridge headset.
*Crappy pic shows my current set-up disassembled.

1- What and where do I measure? (ID of the frame, OD of the cups??)... I do know its a 1" steerer.
Did some searching and there is a dizzying array of choices. I'm absolutely lost.

2- If anyone has done this to one of their older MTB's, I'm interested in your recommendations.

Thanks.
