A new look for my old Look, to be precise.
I made a few superficial changes to my Look. Namely, changed the handlebar tape, bars (Modolo with shim to proper-sized Cinelli), saddle (white Rolls to black Rolls), bottle cages, bar end plugs, and gave it a good cleaning. I was inspired by viewing some old videos of the '86 tour and noticed many of the La Vie Claire riders with this setup (black saddle, red Benotto, TA cages). I also have a pair of the black Look pedals, but forgot to install them for the photoshoot. C'est la vie! To me, the Benotto tape is like a pair of red high-heeled shoes on a woman: Sexy, but maybe not great for everyday wear. I'll probably change to some type of cork tape eventually, but I'll enjoy oggling her in the meantime.
For the record, here's
a BEFORE pic.
It's been about 2 years since I repainted this frame myself. It does have the dreaded brake caliper smack on the downtube, which I did a poor job of touching up. Notwithstanding that area, I think it's holding up pretty well for my first-ever bike project/restoration.
(P.s. The saddle is level, but the ground is not.)
