Kool! Sorry I have a set of the ancient Look pedals in white/red, that would look stunning on this bike! Bearings are perfect! They came off of a hardly ridden 88 Schwinn Circuit.,,,,BD

Bikes: 72 Cilo Pacer, 72 Gitane GT, 72 Peugeot PX10, 73 Speedwell Ti,l, 75 Peugeot PR-10L, 80 Colnago Super, 81 Zinn, 85 ALAN Cross, 85 De Rosa Pro, 86 Look 753, 86 Look KG86, 89 Parkpre Team, 90 Parkpre Team MTB, 90 Merlin

The correct pedals for this bike were the all black versions in photo below. The black Looks were a later model--lighter, more spring tension, and with better clearance. My favorites though are the Look-manufactured Dura-Ace PD-7401s--again improvements in the same aspects.

Quanda bella!
I've tried white and red/white saddles on mine, and I agree the black one looks better. I don't even care about looking correct, the black just looks better.
I scored a NOS black suede Hinault Turbo last month, but I've been too chicken to mount it, because I doubt it'll be as comfortable as my beloved '09 Avatar.
It's an interesting bike; almost all colors work with it, but some work decidedly better. I've currently got all yellow tape on my bars, but I look forward to dirtying that up, so I can go back to red. That's definitely the dog's bollocks and the cat's meow.

Fantastic looking bike, did the Team bikes use the Simplex Retrofriction Shifters?

Excellent job on the refresh on the appearance of that Look, they have such a unique colourway in that La Vie Claire scheme. You black saddle with that copper trim on the back is subtle but nice as are those red pedals. Well Done, Sir, Well Done!

Well I will need to keep a Look out for a Look. Great looking bike and better Looking than before! I too would be interested in a pair of Mavic 500 skewers in Aluminum. There was a steel version too.

It looks very nice...but I am torn, as I really liked the matching cages that were on it originally.

Either way, it is a LOOKer.

I remember that bike well. You did an amazing job on the paint.

I've never been a fan of white saddles, so I like it even more now.

No, the team bikes were equipped with full C-Record, so I'm pretty sure they would have used the non-indexing C-Record shifters (Synchro came out the following year, 1987). I wasn't going for complete parts accuracy with this build since I bought it as a frame only and had a lot of these parts on the bike back in the 80s. The Campagnolo parts you see are mostly Chorus (except for a C-Record BB and crankset), along with a smattering of Mavic parts (headset & hubs; Mavic wasn't a La Vie Claire sponsor, bit they are French at least). But even if I had a full C-Record group for it, I'd probably use Simplex retrofriction shifters anyway since they work so well.

Thanks, GB. I know you know your way around a paint gun and don't throw out compliments easily, so that means a lot coming from you.

They apparently made Ti rodded skewers for the 500 series hubs too.
I found these black ones a couple of years ago...

Quite bit more stretchy (which results in less clamping force) than the steel rodded ones, but does work well enough for bikes with vertical rear dropouts...
head and nut seems to be made of anodized aluminum (non magnetic). Only thing steel/magnetic on them are the short metal cylinders that the Ti rods screw into, the skewer levers, springs and the small lever retaining nuts.
