Curious, if you have tried, the bolt head on the bottom of the fork, could be Used to mount a fabricated bracket to mount the Mudguard strut..
its those bolts that hold the fork top and bottom and core parts together .
Mainstream, Shorties , in the style of MX Motos, go in the fork crown, high above the tire using a plug in the steerer tube bottom.
