I will be chaperoning my son's weekend trip to Khao Yai, north of Bangkok. It is normally a climbing and descending training ground for a lot of Bangkok riders - but no riding for me this weekend.
Still, since we have to hit the road at 9 am ...
Saturday - I woke up at 530 am and got one my trainer at 6 and spun until 8 am. My two hour average was 175 watts at 95 rpm cadence and I finished the movie Judge Dredd - not a good movie. I could have ridden longer if I had been watching a longer, more interesting movie. The power meter numbers as well as the balance power meter readings for my left and right feet made the ride interesting. I think I like my SRAM Quarq power meter. So, I guess my initial FTP calculation of 179 watts was off since it would be unlikely that I could have been spinning at 95% of my FTP for two hours. But, I really do not like to re-try an all out suffer-fest FTP ride since I am not a masochist. I was wondering if I can assume that my 3 hour average is 70% of my FTP and back-calculate my FTP that way?
