Question Upgrade from 48v 40 ah VRLA to LiFePO4 . . Advice needed !!

Hi guys,

I live in india. I own this bike.

India's Only No-Petrol two-seater - YO EXL

Been using this for over 2 years. Quite happy with the fuel savings :g7:

I drive around 40 km per day ( Now the meter shows 23,000km ). Its been over two years now, for around 18 months it gave around 40-50 km/charge. Now it gives around 20-25km . . My bike has 1000w motor and 48v 40ah VRLA battery.

It has two modes . Normal mode : gives a speed of 35km/hr max. Power mode : gives a max speed of 55-60km/hr . In normal mode i can drive around twice as longer as in Power mode (speed sucks though )

Instead of changing VRLA batteries for every 2 years.I'm now thinking of changing over to LiFePO4 batteries. One of the suppliers :

Wholesale Cheap ! 48V 40AH LiFePO4 Battery (with BMS,6A Fast Charger and Bag) For Electric Bike,View LiFePO4 Battery, Product Details from Shanghai Leishun Industry Co., Ltd. on Alibaba.com

He quoted me for 790$ including shipping charges to india.

1) Noob Ques : Will my controller work with the LiFePO4 batteries ??. Also if it works, will the charge level indicator work properly ??

2) The range that i used to get in VRLA,50km/charge, will i get the same or more in LiFePo4 ??

3) 790$ seems quite excessive .. Here 48v 40ah VRLA costs 20k (400$ approx). . Is the pricing right ??

4) What are the things i should see in LiFePO4 batteries ?? Saw some sites who give the same thing for 900$.

48V 40AH SOFT Series LiFePO4 Battery Pack E-BIKE٬AKKU

5) Will there be any tax or duties levied on importing batteries here ?? :/

I'm willing to spend even 800$ as long as its worth it. I hope to get atleast 50km or more per charge. Please help me out in choosing the right stuff.

Thanks.
