I only did one climb at Akuna Bay in the morning due to puncture so I thought I'd better get out and do a bit more training. Got to Calga with 5mins to get changed and made the B grade start (only about 10 starters!!!) with about 30secs to go!

Everyone looked at me as if to say 'who the faark is this guy?'. It felt like I was intruding on a family funeral.
Anyway with such a small field you would have expected everyone to cooperate, but no. Two distinct camps: those that wanted to race and those who wanted to win without doing any work. Werds were exchanged, less than sporting moves were pulled, and sitters were forced to the front despite their reluctance. All in all a fantastic and raggedy-edged race. I cramped up on the second climb of blood and finished about 500m behind the bunch.
Well it was on for young and old after the race. Werds were still being spoken, but this time you could hear them clearly from 200m!!! Most unpleasant. Worse was to come when 1st & 2nd were DQ'd for occupying the second lane.
Well I had fun anyway and accomplished what I set out to achieve for the day. Stuff them.

Sounds like you better come race with the Waratahs. Good size groups, plenty of competition and reasonable race etiquette.
What more could you want?
