Agreed. Difference is at a race you're in with a bunch of people that have already grouped themselves together with at least some common objectives and level of performance. Real life is a lot more like BF - where out of some 200,000 members, there are widely varying levels of experience, interest and participation.
So while I don't deliberately go out of my way to ignore or slight people, there are some forums I have never posted in and a few that I've never visited. And out of the 200,000 members on here, over the past couple years guess I haven't 'waved' at all that many and not too many have 'waved' back cause my list of BF friends ain't all that big. Your own experience here doesn't seem to have been much different.
But you're right - that doesn't make anyone 'unfriendly'
