garmin is aware of the issue, but no date has been mentioned for an expected release of a firmware update.

Yep, 18 pages of people with the issue. Depending on who you talk to at Garmin it is either a known problem or they have never heard about it before. It is getting very, very old using my new 810 as a paper weight.
