Teeth = the number of teeth on a chainring or rear cog. Also referred to the 'gear'. The greater the ratio between the number of teeth on the rear cog and the front chainring, the larger the overall gearing of the drivetrain. The larger the gearing of the drive train, the more effort you have to exert to turn the gear. The smaller the gear ratio, the easier it is to pedal.
