From an email I received today.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Cap2Cap 2013 registered riders. If you’re riding with friends, make sure they receive this email too. Anyone you know who hasn't registered yet may do so at: http://virginiacapitaltrail.org/cap2cap-ride/

We’re 24 days away from the 2013 Cap2Cap event. Please read this entire email, even if this is your 8[SUP]th[/SUP] time riding with us. Some locations have changed this year, and we want everything to go smoothly for you throughout the event!

**If you ordered a jersey, you may pick them up Friday evening at packet pickup, or Saturday morning before your ride**

Schedule of Events

Friday, May 10, (optional) early packet pickup

4-8 pm for Richmond

5-8 pm for Williamsburg

**The Friday early packet pickup location for Richmond is NOT Rocketts Landing. Repeat, Friday pm packet pickup for Richmond riders HAS CHANGED from previous years. It is at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. Details at the end of this email.**

**The Friday early packet pickup location for Williamsburg HAS CHANGED. It is at American Family Fitness. Details at the end of this email**

You may pick up multiple packets for your friends. We will have one line dedicated to people doing just that. You must pick up your packet from the location you have signed up to start from. Directions to each packet pickup location are at the end of this email. Anyone can register for the ride at this time, but will be charged the $85 walk-up fee and can only get an event t-shirt after completing your ride. (cash, checks and credit cards accepted)

Saturday, May 11

6:30 am– Packet Pickup, last minute registration. If you’ve picked up your packet on Friday, you do not need to re-check-in. You’re all set!
7:30: SyCom Century ride start
8:30: Sands Anderson Half-Century start
9:00: Busch Gardens 25-Miler start
9:30: Eco Discovery Park 15-mile Fun Ride (Williamsburg only)
11:00: Vendor Expo Opens
11:30: Lunch begins. Musical entertainment begins

After you finish your ride, you will receive Buz & Ned’s BBQ or a vegetarian option (there is no gluten free option). Rocketts Landing spectators can purchase lunch from Boka Truck.

We have beer available for $5, or 5 tickets/$20. Everyone gets one free beer if you know the password: “We need more cowbell.”

Raffle tickets are also available ($5 or 5 tickets for $20) and we will be selling merchandise. Cash, check or charge cards accepted.

3:30: Vendor Expo Closes
4:30: Course support ends. No SAG, Feed Zones, or technical support will be available after this time. We will leave leftover lunches under the main tent (Rocketts) or the pavilion (Chickahominy Park), until the venue is cleaned up.

A Word About Pace
We want you to be realistic about your abilities so you can enjoy the entire Cap2Cap experience, which includes the delicious lunch, beverages and bands. This is not a race, therefore there’s no need to ride any faster than you’re comfortable with. However, if you are a 10-12 mph rider, you need to know that you may not finish the century ride before lunch and entertainment ends. And possibly before course support ends at 4:30. Some who average 15-17 mph take 8 hours to complete the century, depending on how much time they spend at Feed Zones and the turnaround.

Anyone who is still riding after 4:30 pm will not have support vehicles or Feed Zones to available to them.

If you’d like to change your distance, we can do that but please let us know asap. Email: info@virginiacapitaltrail.org

A Word About Safety
You are responsible for your own safety. We are closing the first mile of each route to cars during the mass starts. After the police ******* leave, you will be riding on open roads. We ask that you stay to the far right in a single file, giving cars plenty of room to pass if they are going faster than you. Police may ticket anyone blocking the normal flow of car traffic.

No helmet, no ride.

You will be provided with emergency numbers on your cue sheets, as well as the number to call for the support vehicles. We will have vehicles patrolling the routes, but be aware that you may have to wait to be picked up. If you know how to change a flat, you will get back on your way much faster. Make sure you know where you are so you can tell us where to get you. If you have a health emergency, please call 911.

A Word About the Routes

We will have the routes well-marked and will have course marshals at some intersections. We recommend you use the cue sheets we provide as your ultimate guide, as signs have blown away or been moved by pranksters in past events. Course marshals are not traffic cops. It is your responsibility to get through intersections safely.

If you end up at the wrong venue after your ride, you will need to find your own ride back. All routes are loops, designed to bring you back to where you started.

A Word About Weather

If there is thunder or lightning during your ride, seek shelter immediately. Continue your ride once the storm has passed.

There is no rain date or refunds. If it is raining the morning of the ride, we will still be having the Cap2Cap
