So here it is: an early Zieleman, in deplorable condition. I just had the front forks straightened, fortunately that worked out alright.
The frame has no number, so the vintage would be an educated guess. I would say around 1978, based on the microfusion Cinelli bracketshell and the cable guides on top of the bb shell. The Reynolds stickers would indicate even earlier than that, but then they could have been left-overs.
I intend to build up the frame with first generation Dura Ace parts, and ride it. One thing is strange, the seattube is 58 c-t, but the toptube is only 55 c-c. not quite long enough for me.
The frame will need a complete renovation. The painting is not the biggest worry, although I will be careful to select someone to get the right shade and texture. The rust is a worry, it's pretty deep. And, the decals will be impossible to get. Anyone care to have a go at duplicating them? mswantak maybe? The name itself is not difficult I guess, but the rainbow bands with 'type special' and 'cycles zieleman' may be more work. And the Reynolds decals of course.
