You have a good tire to start with. People will give you a good variety of choices here. Another thing I like to do is check out tires at trailheads and ask "seasoned riders" their opinions. By seasoned, trust your instincts. Get a conversation going with people on the trail or loading and unloading their bikes. See what they are using.
I live in the Vegas Valley and our trails are hardpack dusty. Geux Saguaros, Bontraeger Jones, SML BLK 8s and Maxxis Agressors are all popular here.
