TIRES- Newb to tires HELP?

I didn't see a tire thread. So thought I would ask another question under new topic.

What is a good tire, in terms of 29er? It is mostly a mediterranian dry terrain around here.

I was thinking a durometer tire for hard pack and dry dirt mostly.

What is a decent tire to shave weight but doesn't necessarily brake the bank? I currently have the Specialized Ground control 2.1".

You have a good tire to start with. People will give you a good variety of choices here. Another thing I like to do is check out tires at trailheads and ask "seasoned riders" their opinions. By seasoned, trust your instincts. Get a conversation going with people on the trail or loading and unloading their bikes. See what they are using.

I live in the Vegas Valley and our trails are hardpack dusty. Geux Saguaros, Bontraeger Jones, SML BLK 8s and Maxxis Agressors are all popular here.
