Let me ask is, braking experts. My Gunnar Sport has medium range caliper brakes, Tektro 730 model. The brakes look nice but their stopping power leaves much to be desired. I have swapped the pads to Kool Stop salmons and that helped, but they are still not up to par with brakes on my other bikes (which have cantis or short reach calipers). Am I likely to see any improvement in braking power by installing some VO Gran Compe centerpulls or mid-reach brakes? How about Shimano Br-R600s? If money were no object, I would get some Paul Racers but a set of them would probably cost me $250 installed -- more than I want to spend.
