I use Strava. The iPhone app is amazing in that I've gone on a 50 miler and finished with 4/5 of the battery life left. Then I push the button and it uploads automatically.
I don't take detailed notes but if there was something noteworthy on the ride I put it the title of the ride. One other nifty feature of Strava is if you take a photo and upload it to Instagram on the ride, it will synch automatically to Strava. My scenery is nothing special but it is fun to share it with others around the globe.
