In all honesty, you should do what you want to the bike. You're the one riding it after all. And if it makes you want to get out and ride more, then that makes it even better. But since you asked.......

Stick with the traditional black tire. The Conti GP4000S is very well recommended by the 41 if you don't like the Bontragers that came on the bike.

I have no idea how much you're willing to spend, but if you're looking for something to really set your bike off, a new wheelset can make a huge difference in how a bike looks as well as rides/handles. A wheelset may not be in your budget, but I think these American Classics would look good on your bike. Sadly, they cost about as much as what you paid for the bike. But if you're looking for vain......
