Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

In all honesty, you should do what you want to the bike. You're the one riding it after all. And if it makes you want to get out and ride more, then that makes it even better. But since you asked.......

Stick with the traditional black tire. The Conti GP4000S is very well recommended by the 41 if you don't like the Bontragers that came on the bike.

I have no idea how much you're willing to spend, but if you're looking for something to really set your bike off, a new wheelset can make a huge difference in how a bike looks as well as rides/handles. A wheelset may not be in your budget, but I think these American Classics would look good on your bike. Sadly, they cost about as much as what you paid for the bike. But if you're looking for vain......

Too much, the frame already has plenty of color, maybe red bar tape/saddle and that's it.

Also: I have no clue what my tire size is. Trek 1.2
Getting red tire is not vain. Poor judgement, maybe. but the Michelin pro is a good tire.

whenever I feel the need to add color/new shwag to my bike, I go do some intervals. afterwards, I dont care what color my bike is nor what the latest shwag is.

If you decide on red tires, I'm looking forward to a pic. I've got the same bike and model year and am interested in how this might turn out.

The OEM tire is a Bontrager T1 700 x 23c.

Black.

There's little enough red on that bike that I don't think it would look too bad to have red tires.

Bikes: Bianchi Infinito (Celeste, of course)

I'm voting against red and for Michelin's. The ProRace are very good tires. Excellent rolling resistance, decent lifespan, the ProRace4 is the newest model (and it still comes in red).

I think the red tires will likely look awkward with the red highlights on the rim. White walls might be a better match, except you'll have to maintain them like a show car.

I gave this some thought, and i think white would be a pretty cool option, the more I think about it the more I like it better than red. What if I throw in something COMPLETELY different, like say Orange.

I will definitely post some pics. Did you do any upgrades to your Trek yet? I must say I love the bike.

I've only got 175 mi on my bike so far. No upgrades yet. Great bike at its price point IMO.

I only have 160. Only issue was a wheel needed to be "trued." It's surprisingly light for a bike.
