there was more than one Mafac: the Tandem was the wide-set, the Criterium was somewhat shorter-armed (but similar) and then there was the short Jacky which was closer (but no clone) to these Modolos.
I was more referring to the construction technique, which is a page ripped right from the Mafac manual: big bronze bushing and stamped aluminum plates forming the arms.
Anybody know for sure if they were made in Italy or France?
