Start inside, work out to ends...
Make sure your housing is already in place - with 1-2mm extra to push against when inserting the lever plug ends. When tape is 1/4 past ends - cut - fold into bars. Then force lever plugs in. That 1/4" fold in provides a tad more friction to insure against accidental separation of the levers from the bars.
