On the contrary, the Hotshot mount works great for me. I will say that I decided to add a few small washers in the mount clamp to make the clamp a bit more rigid when I tightened down the clamping screw (gives the screw something to tighten against instead of just pushing the 2 clamp ends closer and closer together). But doing that makes the mount very solid. The light itself goes into the mount with a nice solid "click" and also comes out of the mount easily enough, but not so much that you feel like it will come out on a harsh road surface.
