Scored a Nice Little Masi

I was really hoping this one was my size when I answered the ad, but it's much too small (I ride a 54). Still, it was a good enough deal that I couldn't pass it up.

Serial number: MM50 0056

Size 50. ~48.5 ST, 51.5 TT

From my initial research (2 minutes on google),it appears this is likely an 80's model made in San Marcos, CA; but I would like to confirm that. I haven't researched the components yet, but it looks like Chorus with Record hubs to me. Shifters are 8s index and actually work surprisingly well...I have heard horror stories about early Campy indexing, but maybe that was 7s. Either way, shifts as nicely / nicer than any 8s Shimano index bikes I have had. Quick and precise with a solid click into gear. The rims are not an exact match, but are close enough for me. The stem is a Ritchey and is nice...but a traditional Cinelli would look much more at home here (and it would match the giro bars).

Condition is very good, some paint chips primarily on the top tube and drive side chain stay. Chrome and paint/panto are all in great shape otherwise and it will polish up very nicely. There is some dried on mud on the bottom of the down tube that doesn't appear to want to come off easily, I will need to look into a way to remove it without scratching the paint. I am thinking I will wrap it in a wet towel for an hour or so and hope that loosens it up...

Anyway, here are some indoor teaser shots after a quick wipe down.
