I know guys like to bust on people for helping choose a bike, and sometimes there is quite a push to use the search tool. But......With that said. Today, when I was thinking about possibly getting a bike myself, I thought I'd probably start a new thread when the time comes. The reason is that everyone’s needs are different, bikes change every year. Fads come and go etc. I think letting someone choose a bike for you is kind of lame. But getting advice from people who have ridding the bikes you're looking at is a great idea. I do find it stupid when someone will give advice on a bike they neither own, have owned, or have even ridden. My advice when buying anything though is simple. Ask people who have what you want. Buy from a local dealer. Build a relationship with the owner if you can. It doesn’t matter if you are buying guitars or bikes. You will be back for service, parts and a bike upgrade at some time, and probably recommending friend to buy new from their as well. The few bucks you might save from a catalog or online are not always the best long term value. Getting to know the people that own the shop will usually get you better prices, quicker service, and a network of people that share your interest.
