I have never found a reason to run the Marathon Plus here as we don't have goatheads to contend with and for the most part I live a life where flats are rare regardless of the tyres I run.
The biggest offender is radial wire that comes off automotive tyres and it has been the cause of all but one of the three flats I have experienced over the past 3 years... I would rather spend 5 minutes changing / patching a tube than rolling around on such heavy tyres.
The mileage kings in my stable aren't even Marathons, which I run on 4 bicycles, but rather the Schwalbe Hurricanes I have been rolling on for more than 15,000 km without a single flat.
I ran Schwalbe CX Comp tyres on my hybrid for 12,000 km and also experienced zero flats.
Some of this might stem from not being a gutter bunny and spending most of my time in the lane where there is less debris.
