I agree with this statement where I live. Our bus and light rail service here is pathetic, so not too many people use their bikes for commuting like in other larger cities where using a folding bike, as an example, is a huge advantage. Those few here that do use bikes for commuting utilize the front bike racks of buses and hanging racks within the light rail trains which are designed for road or mountain bikes. So most riders here are recreational enthusiasts like myself, or the hard core roadies that are out training for team events.
