It's what I'd call a packing bike instead of a folding bike. You give up the instant fold, but you get a lot in return. And I'll point out that you can't get a Brompton into a 22x14x7 container.

The gearing choice is interesting (two very different speeds - has to use hand as there is no front derailleur), but the builder built it for himself and it works well for him.
